Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled its first BS-VI compliant two-wheeler in India. Yes, the company has revealed the BS-VI compliant Honda Activa 125 in India. The Activa 125 BS-VI will go on sale in the country in September 2019. The BS-VI emission norms will be effective from April 1, 2020.
The new Honda Activa 125 BS-VI also comes with fuel injection and it is the second scooter in India to feature this technology. The first scooter to get FI was Hero Maestro Edge 125. Honda has not revealed the specifications of the BS-VI Activa 125. The updated scooter will draw power from the same 125cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine.
In its BS-IV avatar, the 125cc engine produces 8.4bhp and 10.54Nm of torque. The updated BS-VI Activa 125 will also deliver ten percent more fuel efficiency. Other features of the updated Activa 125 include a new noiseless starter motor, idle stop system for improved fuel efficiency and side stand indicator with engine inhibitor which does not allow the engine to start when the side stand is engaged. This is a segment-first feature.
The BS-VI compliant Activa 125 also gets LED headlamp, a semi-digital instrument cluster, an external fuel lid and 4-in-1 ignition switch. Visual updates include chrome inserts on the side panels and a new tail lamp.
