Cars made in India are getting safer and good examples are the Nexon that scored well in the Global NCAP test and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Joining the list is the Hyundai i20, which earned itself three stars in a crash test conducted by Global NCAP.
As per Global NCAP, the i20 scored three points for adult protection and two stars for child safety. The made in India Hyundai i20’s structure and footwell were deemed unstable during the tests and the lack of ISOFIX child seat anchors brought down the scores for child safety.
The test was conducted for the Hyundai i20 in the South African market and Global NCAP says that the i20 model sold in India is different compared to the ones sold in Europe, which has better structure, six standard airbags, and electronic stability control.
For the South African market, Hyundai sells the i20 with a choice of either a 1.2-litre petrol engine or with a 1.4-litre diesel unit.
