Mahindra launched its flagship SUV in 2018, the Alturas G4. Based on the latest-gen Rexton from SsangYong, the Alturas G4 has received over 1000 bookings and the carmaker has rolled out over 500 units of the SUV. Anand Mahindra took delivery of one too.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 is based on the Rexton but with minor design tweaks to make it more like a Mahindra. The Alturas gets a redesigned grille and a few minor changes. Under the hood, the Alturas features a 2.2-litre diesel engine good for 178 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a Mercedes-sourced 7-speed automatic gearbox and the SUV gets an optional 4WD system.
The engine is BS-VI ready and the SUV features a host of convenience and comfort features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 3-zone climate control, rear-view camera with park assist, rain-sensing wipers, 9 airbags, and a host of other safety features as well.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 competes with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Pajero Sport, and the Isuzu MU-X in India. You can read the spec comparison of the Alturas G4 against its rivals here and the Mahindra flagship SUV is priced from ₹26.95 lakh onwards.
