Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce a new petrol engine in the Indian market and the Baleno premium hatchback will be the first car to get the new engine. Yes, Autocar India reports that the Maruti Baleno will get the new DualJet petrol engine which also features Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid technology.
The new DualJet petrol engine is an improved version of the currently offered 1.2-litre K12B engine. The new engine is codenamed as K12C and it was introduced in the global markets in 2015. The new DualJet engine comes with a host of changes as compared to the K12B engine.
The new 1.2-litre DualJet engine gets two fuel injectors per cylinder as opposed to the one injector per cylinder. The new engine also features revamped intake ports, combustion chamber and piston head and much more. More importantly, the new engine gets Smart Hybrid technology which improves fuel efficiency.
The report also stated that the India-spec 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine is expected to produce around 90bhp and 120Nm of torque. The new engine also complies with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. Initially, only the Delta and Zeta variants of the Baleno will be available with the new DualJet engine and the other variants will get the new engine at a later phase.
Maruti Suzuki will also introduce the new DualJet petrol engine on the other models which utilise the 1,2-litreK12B engine. Expect the Maruti Dzire and Swift to get a similar update in the coming months.
