Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the S-Presso micro-SUV in the Indian market on September 30, 2019. Now, a report from Autocar India reveals the variants and variant-wise features of the upcoming S-Presso. The S-Presso will be an entry-level model in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup and will be sold through the Arena dealership network.
The Maruti Suzuki X-Presso will be offered in four variants: Standard, LXi, VXi and VXi+. The standard features of the S-Presso include driver-side airbag, ABS, rear parking sensors, front seat belt reminder, a digital instrument cluster and high-speed warning system. The base Standard variant of the S-Presso will not get any other features.
The LXi variant of the S-Presso will get additional features such as an air conditioning system and power steering. The VXi trim of the micro-SUV gets all the essential features such as a SmartPlay Dock audio system with Bluetooth, front power windows, keyless entry with central locking and body-coloured bumpers and wheel covers.
The top-spec VXi+ trim of the S-Presso is fully loaded with features such as a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with voice recognition, steering-mounted controls, body-coloured ORVMs and door handles, front passenger airbag and a 12-volt accessory socket. Note that the front passenger airbag is optional on other variants and there will be no alloy wheels on offer to keep the costs down.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will draw power from a BS-VI compliant 1-litre K10B petrol engine that produces 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual or an optional AMT gearbox. The AMT gearbox will be available on the top-spec VXi and VXi+ trims. Expect the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso to carry a price tag of around ₹3.3-4.5 lakh ex-showroom. The S-Presso will take on the Renault Kwid in the Indian market.
