India’s leading automaker Maruti Suzuki has announced that the company will proactively and voluntarily undertake a recall campaign for certain WagonR models. The recall affects WagonR cars equipped with the 1-litre engine and manufactured between November 15, 2018, to August 12, 2019.
Maruti Suzuki has recalled 40,618 units of the WagonR due to an issue with the fuel hose. Maruti Suzuki states that there is a possible issue of fuel hose fouling with the metal clamp. Maruti Suzuki dealers will start contacting the owners of the suspected vehicles from August 24, 2019.
Maruti Suzuki dealers will inspect the suspected models of the WagonR and will replace the faulty parts free of cost. The customers of the suspected vehicles can also check whether their car is affected or not by entering the chassis number on Maruti Suzuki’s official website.
Note that only the 1-litre engine models are affected by this recall. The WagonR equipped with the bigger 1.2-litre engine is not affected by this recall. The new Maruti Suzuki WagonR was launched with two engine options: 1-litre and 1.2-litre. It's a good initiative by Maruti Suzuki to rectify the issue voluntarily.
