India’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will increase the prices of its products. The price hike will be effective from January 2019. Maruti Suzuki becomes the latest manufacturer to announce a price hike after Toyota and Isuzu.
Maruti Suzuki has not revealed how much the price hike would be. But the manufacturer has stated that the increase in price is due to the rising input and distribution costs. By looking at the price hike from other manufacturers, we can expect an increase in price by three to four percent.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki is the leading car maker in India with a market share of around 51 percent. The launch of the new Swift and the new-gen Ertiga has played a vital role in the increase in the sales figures.
Maruti Suzuki recently launched the new-gen Ertiga with upmarket design and features. The prices for the new Ertiga start at ₹7.44 lakh ex-showroom (India). The new Ertiga now comes with a new 1.5-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine and gets a host of new features.
We expect the price hike from Maruti Suzuki to be marginal and it should not affect the sales of Maruti cars in India.
