Tata Motors is all set to enter the premium hatchback segment with the introduction of the Altroz. The Tata Altroz is based on the 45X concept which was revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. Now, Tata Motors has revealed that the production version of the Altroz will be revealed in India in December 2019.
The Tata Altroz was supposed to be launched in the Indian market in August 2019. But Tata Motors delayed the launch of the Altroz to upgrade the engine to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. The Tata Altroz is expected to be launched in the country in early 2020. Tata Motors might launch the Altroz at the 2020 Auto Expo in February.
The Tata Altroz will be based on the new ALFA platform and will be the second product to feature the new Impact Design 2.0. Tata Motors has already revealed the near-production version of the Altroz at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and the hatchback will make its India debut in December 2019.
The Tata Altroz will draw power from a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. All three engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, Tata Motors might also introduce the automatic gearbox at a later phase. When launched in India, the Tata Altroz will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.
