Tata Motors opened the bookings for the Harrier SUV in October 2018 and the SUV was launched in the country in January 2019. Now, Tata Motors has revealed the booking numbers of the Harrier. Speaking to ET Auto, MD of Tata Motors, Guenter Butschek said that the Tata Harrier has received over 10,000 bookings.
Tata Motors has received a good response for the Harrier but the company has delivered around 420 units in January and 1,450 units in February. Compared to the bookings the deliveries are slower. But we expect Tata Motors to speed up the delivery in the coming days.
The Tata Harrier was one of the biggest launches of 2019 and there was a lot of buzz about the SUV. The prices for the Tata Harrier start at ₹12.69 lakh and goes all the way up to ₹16.25 lakh for the top-spec model. The competitive pricing of the Harrier makes it a value for money SUV in the Indian market.
The Tata Harrier is based on the Land Rover’s D8 platform and it is the first vehicle to feature the new Impact Design 2.0 philosophy. The Tata Harrier draws power from a Fiat-sourced 2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 138bhp and 350Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Tata Motors will also launch the seven-seater variant of the Harrier in India with a more powerful 2-litre diesel engine and an automatic gearbox sourced from Hyundai. Tata Motors recently revealed the seven-seater version of the Harrier at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show which is named as the Buzzard for the European markets.
