The launch of the Kia Carnival, however, will be post the launch of the Kia SP concept, which will be the carmaker’s first launch in India.
With the Kia SP concept, the South Korean carmaker is looking to capture the compact SUV market that the Hyundai Creta enjoys popularity. The Kia SP concept is yet to get its official name, which will be revealed soon.
Coming back to the Kia Carnival, the MPV will be launched in India at a later stage and will be priced marginally higher than the Crysta. The Carnival is available in different seating configurations globally, but for India, Kia Motors could launch the MPV in 7 or 8-seater layouts.
Again, the Carnival has a selection of engine options abroad, but for India, the Carnival could get a 2.2-litre diesel engine that makes around 200 bhp. Kia is looking to launch a premium competitor before entering the lower MPV segment that consists of the Ertiga and the Marazzo.
